KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS

          

Built and managed eFunds Colorado consulting practice focused on Microsoft Web development (eCommerce, .NET, BIZTALK), through customer relationship management, setting appropriate expectations, and delivering on commitments. Consistently returned 30% profit and increased consulting hours monthly.

 

Turned around failing multi-million dollar Data Warehouse project for major client. Provided leadership, clear direction, assignments and inspired team to work extended hours to deliver on each milestone. This positioned eFunds to double processing revenues to $14 million dollars per year (projected) and deliver on contractual obligations.

 

Successfully managed Western Union’s $20 million dollar “Cash Card” initiatives. Rolled out 3 complex “Debit Card” products integrated with WUNA’s core Money Transfer system in less than 24 months. Led over 30 diverse teams across 6 companies, providing expertise, clear direction, process flows, timelines, and objectives. This saved Western Union over $140,000 per month in consulting fees (for 20 months), and allowed the roll-out of 3 new products with first year revenue targets of $30 million dollars.

 

Purchased “Bank of Cortez” and integrated it as “Western Union Industrial Bank”. Managed the setup and implementation of the bank, with Federal Reserve, Correspondent Bank, and M&I processing. This positioned Western Union to own and manage Federally Insured DDA accounts, reducing DDA account cost by 80% (saved ~$4 per account per month, target of 10 million accounts).

 

Implemented eFunds on-shore/off-shore development model for cost effective system development. With thorough on-shore requirements and design, the Web team saved 40 to 60% in overall development cost.

Managed Secure Storage Solutions, LLC; which provides cost effective disk storage solutions for the small and midsize business market. The business model is based on Business Continuity compliance (backup and rapid restore) of Federal Security Acts, like; Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Graham-Leach-Bliley (GLB), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the Homeland Security Act.

• Built proprietary Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliance. The NAS appliance leverages world class providers like Microsoft (Storage Server 2003), Intel (XEON, chassis, and mother boards), LSI (SATA Raid controller), and AVNET (for systems integration) to produce our high availability solution. Managed technical design, vendor partners, project management and negotiated contracts.
• Developed marketing materials, web site, and white papers to support sales and marketing effort to launch our diverse product line.
• Provided integration and architecture of Security products; Network Security, Electronic Communications security (email and instant messages), anti-virus, URL filtering, patch management, and SPAM removal as part of compliance. Our focus is on providing best of breed solutions like; IronPort for email (anti spam/virus), Akonics for IM (authentication, anti virus, and archival), Surf Control for URL filtering, and our custom storage solution for archival / backup.

Director Global Web Competency & Account Verification Services (GWC & AVS)

 

Managed 4 cost centers, P&L, 50+ technology experts, and provided day to day leadership of the AVS and GWC departments. Managed the Colorado consulting practice building Microsoft Web and .Net applications. eFunds is certified CMM-2 and actively engages six sigma methodologies.

• Ran Colorado consulting practice developing e-commerce Web applications in Microsoft commerce and .Net technologies. Consistently increased billable hours producing a 30% profit margin. Entire team attended the 2000 Microsoft DEV-X conference in Orlando, as well as on-site XML training.
• Implemented the on-shore/off-shore delivery model for each department, focused on high quality software delivery with a bottom line orientation.
• Provided leadership and management of the AVS Re-Platform project, converting a high volume RISK system to an Unix/WebSphere/Oracle data-warehouse solution. Over 50,000 man hours to design, develop, and test the system. Projected doubling of processing revenues to $14 million per year.

·       Managed GWC department in building out eFunds Web Infrastructure; including setting standards, analyzing platform requirements, architecture, building applications, and designing security interface solutions. Standards are maintained on Microsoft SharePoint server with corporate wide access, automatic change notification, and independent maintenance.

Director Cash Card Operations, Project Management for New EFT & Card Products

Managed WUNA’s 20 million dollar Debit Card integration project. Adding Debit Cards to Western Unions Money Transfer products.

·              Built Western Union Benefits Quick Cash, Western Union Cash Card, and Debit Cash in 24 months.

·       Completely accountable for the end-to-end assessment, design and implementation of lead market card applications. Leveraging Western Union’s core products, systems, and interfaces with state-of-the-art EFT architecture.

·       Provided “in-house” expertise regarding functional and systemic design of new products. This involves applying EFT, bank industry and financial services technical and operational acumen to assure state-of-the-art product performance.

·              Managed over 30 diverse teams, including technical teams, customer service, accounting, management, and numerous solution providers.

 

VISA DPS, PLUS System, Inc., Rocky Mountain Bank Card, Englewood, CO                       1984-1997

VISA DPS a subsidiary of Visa USA, purchased PLUS System, Inc. in 1995, transferred from Rocky Mountain Bankcard (sister organization) in 1993.

 

Project Administrator/Senior On-line Specialist

Provided technical management of on-line projects, enhancements, client contact, and resources; including hiring recommendations, adjustments, project assignment and monitoring. Managed development teams on many technology platforms and operating systems, including; IBM 3090 (TSO, CICS, OSJCL), Tandem (non stop, TAL, Screen Cobol), Concurrent 3280 (OS, CAL, Cobol, CSS), Data General (Informix DB, Unix), Microsoft (NT, Office, servers), and many communications protocols (TCP-IP, Bisync, SNA, 2780).

·              Implemented a new national switch to process VISA Check Card and Debit oriented transactions. .

·              Designed the “Transaction Research and Query System” (TRAQS), which simplified customer exception processing trough automated transaction research, charge-back, and re-presentment functions.

·              Implemented VISA Cash ATM support for the Olympic Chip-Card rollout.

·              Designed and implemented robust source management system to allow multiple developers to modify same source code, passed SAS70 audit review.
